Your Vision, Our Craft

Tell Your Story Through Custom Design

At Metal & Stone Jewellers, we believe the most meaningful jewellery begins with a story — yours. Whether you are honouring a milestone, celebrating a love, or creating something to be worn every day, we take the time to understand what matters to you before we touch the metal.

Maurice and Sonya work personally with every client from the first consultation to the final presentation. There are no salespeople, no mass production, and no compromises. Just two skilled professionals, a studio full of extraordinary gemstones, and a commitment to making something entirely, unmistakably yours.

Design Consultation

01 · The Custom Process

Design Consultation

Your journey begins with an intimate, no-obligation consultation — in person at our Adelaide CBD studio or Strathalbyn workshop. We listen to your story, your style and your sentiment. We discuss gemstone preferences, metal choices, budget and timeline, guiding you through every possibility without pressure or rush.

This is the beginning of a creative partnership, and we take that responsibility with care.

Gemstone Selection

02 · The Custom Process

Gemstone Selection

At Metal & Stone, the stone is the soul of every piece. We guide you through our curated collection of Australian and international gemstones — sapphires, diamonds, opals and coloured stones sourced directly from trusted suppliers around the world.

Sonya's expertise as a qualified gemmologist ensures that every stone is assessed for quality, character and value before we recommend it. You will see the stones in hand, in natural light, and against your skin — because the right stone should feel like it was always meant for you.

Design & Approval

03 · The Custom Process

Design & Approval

Once your stone is chosen and your vision is clear, Maurice creates a hand-drawn sketch or detailed design for your approval. You will see exactly how your piece will look before a single tool touches the metal. We welcome feedback and refinements at this stage — the design must be exactly right before the making begins.

We take as much time as this stage requires. The best custom jewellery is never rushed.

Handcrafted by Maurice

04 · The Custom Process

Handcrafted by Maurice

With your approval given, Maurice hand-fabricates your piece in our workshop using traditional goldsmithing techniques refined over more than 40 years of craft. From forming the metal and setting the stone to every fine detail, your piece is made entirely by hand — one careful step at a time.

No shortcuts. No outsourcing. Every element is shaped, soldered, set and finished in our own studio.

The Finishing Touch

05 · The Custom Process

The Finishing Touch

When your piece is complete, we meticulously polish, clean and inspect every surface and setting before it is presented to you. Your piece is delivered in our signature Metal & Stone presentation box, ready to be worn, gifted or treasured for generations.

We remain available long after your piece is delivered — for aftercare, resizing, cleaning, or to begin your next creation. Our relationship with our clients does not end at the handover.

Experiences shared by those who chose something truly personal.

Discovering Your Signature Jewellery Style

Every client who walks through our door arrives with something unique — a feeling, a memory, or a vision not yet fully formed. Our role is to listen, to guide, and to translate that into a piece of jewellery that feels completely, unmistakably you.

Whether you are beginning with a stone, a sketch, or simply a sense of what you love, we invite you to book a private consultation. There is no obligation and no pressure — just a conversation about what is possible and what your piece could become.
