At Metal & Stone Jewellers, every Australian sapphire engagement ring is the result of generations of jewellery-making knowledge combined with professional gemstone expertise. Husband-and-wife team Maurice and Sonya Lorenz work together from gemstone selection through to the finished ring.
Maurice commenced his goldsmithing apprenticeship in 1981 under his father, Manfred Lorenz — a Berlin-trained Master Goldsmith whose career spanned 67 years. He later refined his diamond setting skills in Antwerp under renowned master Alexandre Sidorov, and is a Full Member of the Gold & Silversmiths Guild of Australia.
Alongside Maurice, Sonya is an FGAA Gemmologist and GIA Certified Jewellery Professional, personally sourcing and assessing every Australian sapphire to meet the studio's exceptionally high standards.
